IRRI Rice

While basmati commands the premium end of Pakistan’s rice export market, it is IRRI rice that drives the country’s highest-volume international trade — and for good reason. Developed by the International Rice Research Institute and cultivated across the fertile alluvial plains of Sindh and southern Punjab, IRRI varieties deliver the yield consistency, cooking versatility, and competitive price point that bulk importers, government procurement programmes, food aid organisations, and large-scale food manufacturers across Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and Eastern Europe depend on. Harmain Global has been exporting Pakistani rice since 1985, and our IRRI rice range serves wholesale commodity traders, supermarket retail chains, flour milling operations, and institutional food buyers who require a reliable, large-volume non-basmati rice supply with full documentation and consistent grading.

Our IRRI rice category covers the two most commercially traded non-basmati varieties from Pakistan: IRRI-6 and IRRI-9 — available in White Milled, Parboiled (Sella), Steam, and Broken grades across a range of broken percentages from 5% through to 100% broken, accommodating the full spectrum of buyer requirements from premium whole-grain retail through to industrial and food processing applications.

Quality Standards & Specifications

IRRI-6 is a long-grain coarse rice variety grown primarily in Sindh’s interior districts — Larkana, Dadu, Nawabshah, Sukkur, and Jacobabad — where the subtropical climate and water availability from the Indus irrigation network produce consistently high-yielding, uniform crops. Average grain length is 6.0–6.2mm, with a characteristically soft, fluffy texture on cooking that makes it highly suited to everyday household consumption, institutional catering, and prepared food manufacturing across price-sensitive markets.

IRRI-9 (also traded as C9 Rice) is the higher-grade variant within the IRRI family, offering a longer and more slender grain profile averaging 6.8–7.0mm, with superior visual uniformity and a cleaner cooked texture that positions it more competitively in retail and foodservice channels. Both varieties are processed through ISO 22000-certified milling facilities using double polishing, optical Sortex colour grading, and gravity separation — achieving purity above 95% with broken grain content held to the percentage specified by the buyer. Moisture content is maintained at or below 13% across all grades and processing types. Every batch is third-party tested for moisture, purity, broken percentage, pesticide residues, and aflatoxin levels, with full laboratory documentation issued alongside each shipment.

Packing & Export Options

We supply IRRI rice in packaging configurations suited to every buyer channel and logistical requirement: 25 kg and 50 kg polypropylene woven bags for standard wholesale and commodity orders; 5 kg and 10 kg retail-format bags for supermarket distributors and branded food packers; and bulk container loads for commodity trading companies and government procurement contracts. Custom private-label packaging is available for retail brands and regional distributors requiring consumer-ready product with buyer-specified design, language, and nutritional panel.

All units carry full labelling including variety and processing grade, lot number, broken percentage, moisture analysis reference, country of origin, net weight, and complete export documentation reference. Shipments are dispatched FOB Karachi and FOB Port Qasim, with CIF and CNF terms arranged on request.

Certifications & Compliance

Harmain Global holds ISO 22000 certification across its rice processing and export operations, and coordinates all IRRI rice shipments in compliance with Pakistan’s REAP (Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan) guidelines and the Ministry of National Food Security & Research.
